Sorry so long
Since I last updated. I have been sick with some kind nasty cold or flu or something. But I am feeling a bit better so I thought I would update.
Concert With Lily was wonderful. New Wave Nation was wonderful as they always are. Legends was great and the food was awesome! We had a bigger turn out than I was expecting due to the weather. We raised about $1, 700 that night!
Our latest update from 4 paws is that out total is $8781.90! So we are getting there!!
I want to thank Legends, New Wave Nation, Zeppe's Pizza and all the awesome people that attended!
Will be posting the sponsor list sometime next week.

Ok so
I know I promised a final tally from the benefit and I do have it. But I forgot the paper I wrote it down on at my sister-in-laws. However I do remember this.......it was right around (drum roll please) $6, 800!!!!!!
I'll tell ya we were floored by the turn out. We expected around 100 people, but I think there was probably double that and were only hoping to take in about $5,000.
I want to once again thank everyone that made this benefit possible! Thank you to all the wonderful sponsors that provided the hall, the food and drink, then entertainment, the baskets and thank you to all the lovely people that came! I am truly sorry I didn't have more time to talk to you all, but it was busy, busy, busy!!! If you come to the Legends event on Dec 12th, I should be able to actually get some social time in with that one!

Welcome and blog purpose
I would like to take this time to thank you for coming to 4 Paws for Lily's blog.
Lillian is a beautiful, intelligent, active and happy 3 yr old living in Green, Ohio. In December of 2009 Lily had her first seizure. This seizure was ruled a Status Epiliptic (that is a seizure that does not stop without medical intervention). Since then Lily has had 4 more seizures. Three have been Status (one lasting 3 and 1/2 hours) and one was not but still lasted 10 minutes.
Lily's seizures are partial complex seizures. They are not what most people typically think of when they think of seizures. They are very quite, Lily becomes like a rag doll and hyper ventilates. Make no mistake though her seizures are extremely dangerous because almost all have been Status seizures. Lily's seizures have only happened at night when she is asleep and the family should be asleep. But trust me....mama and daddy don't sleep much these days!
A prolonged seizure can cause brain damage and possibly death. We are VERY lucky that Lily suffered no repercussion from the last seizure that lasted 3 and 1/2 hours. I am sure you can imagine that our lives have been turned upside down by her epilepsy.
In April after one of her seizures I had an ER doctor suggest to me that we get Lily a seizure assistance/alert dog. I had never heard of anything other than seeing eye dogs at that point in time. After A LOT of researching we realized that this is something that our family could really, really benefit from! And then came the task of finding the right service dog organization. After much searching we found 4 Paws for Ability.
4 Paws for Ability is a service dog organization based in Xenia, Ohio. Most service dog organizations will place you on a waiting list while they raise the funds. The wait can be anywhere from 2-5 years. 4 Paws for Ability allows parents to volunteer to raise the funds themselves. This means no waiting list! Training a service dog cost about $22,000. Our family needs to raise $13,000 to meet the fund raising requirement required for placement of a dog. By raising the money ourselves, the wait time for a dog is greatly reduced.
A seizure assistance/alert dog can help us when Lily is having a seizure. The dog can also alert us that a seizure is coming there fore we can get Lily the medical attention she needs to get the seizure stopped that much sooner. Also a service dog can wake us up in the middle of the night if she were to have a seizure when we are all asleep. I am sure you can see the enormous advantages this type of dog would have not just for Lily but for our family unit as a whole.
Any donation will help and none is too small!
Please consider making a tax deductible donation to:
4 Paws For Ability, Inc at 253 Dayton Ave. Xenia, OH 45385.
